MULTIFAMILY AFFORDABLE HOUSING

The Eureka Regional Transit and Housing Center (EaRTH Center) is a transformative mixed-use development proposed on a 26,400-square-foot, City-owned parcel currently used as a public parking lot in Downtown Eureka. The project will construct a four-story, multi-purpose building consisting of a new intermodal transit center on the ground floor and 45 affordable apartment-style homes on the upper floors. The EaRTH Center fulfills the City of Eureka’s identified housing and transit priorities, and provides a centrally located hub that meets regional mobility needs while delivering much-needed affordable housing.

The project includes merging two existing parcels into a single property, followed by a condominium subdivision separating ownership of the transit center and the residential components.

Highlights

The EaRTH Center creates a first-of-its-kind mixed-use facility that unifies a modern intermodal transit center with 45 affordable homes in the heart of Eureka.

The project provides 45 new affordable units—with at least 30 reserved for very-low and low-income households—and dedicates 11 units specifically for RCRC clients.

This collaborative model delivers significant public benefits—improved transportation infrastructure, economic activation through new commercial storefronts, and expanded affordable housing opportunities in a service-rich location.
