Maya Commons is an innovative adaptive reuse development project in Oakland that transforms an existing hotel into 23 studio apartments dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness. This $7.1 million initiative is funded through Homekey+ and represents a collaborative effort between the City of Oakland, Danco Communities, and Operation Dignity. The project features fully-equipped studio apartments with kitchenettes, cooktops, refrigerators, private bathrooms, and bed furnishings, along with complimentary internet access in all units and free on-site laundry services for residents. Its strategic location provides convenient access to public transportation, shopping, and essential services.

Operation Dignity serves as the lead service provider, connecting residents with vital community resources including substance abuse support services, peer support activities, physical and mental health services, and education and employment assistance. The project enjoys a prime location with convenient access to bus transportation, train station, farmers' markets, retail establishments, and medical services. This transformative project represents a significant step toward addressing housing insecurity in Oakland while providing comprehensive support to help residents thrive.
